My Story: Why EverBold Exists

I loved construction from day one. The pace, the pressure, the problem-solving. The industry suited me.

But at 24, sitting in a project delivery meeting surrounded by senior men, I realised something important. If I wanted to learn how to lead, there wasn’t a single woman ahead of me whose leadership I could study or emulate.

The men in the room weren’t wrong. They led in ways that worked for them, shaped by decades of male-dominated workplaces. The problem was that nobody ever taught women that we don’t have to lead the same way.

Like so many women, I tried to fit the mould. Toughen up. Push harder. Be louder. Perform certainty even when I didn’t feel it. It worked on paper, but it never felt like me.

The turning point came when I discovered strengths-based leadership and trust psychology. I stopped leading from imitation and started leading from identity. That shift changed everything. Clarity improved. Confidence settled. Influence became easier.

For more than a decade I’ve delivered major capital works and infrastructure programs across government, education, construction and industry. High-stakes environments. High expectations. High pressure. Projects totalling more than $500 million.

I’m Bec, Founder of EverBold Ventures.
My career has been shaped in rooms where decisions mattered, stakes were real and leadership was tested daily — not in abstract frameworks, but in conversations, conflicts, negotiations and competing priorities.

And that’s exactly where EverBold was born.

My Story: Learning That the Hardest Projects Are Human

I started my career at Hutchinson Builders, one of Australia’s largest Tier 1 construction firms. I loved the industry immediately — the pace, the problem-solving, the chance to build something tangible.

But I also noticed something glaring.
At 24, I was often the only woman in the room. Capable, committed, willing to speak up — but looking around for someone to learn leadership from… there wasn’t anyone who led like me.

Men weren’t the problem.
The model was.

Leadership had been shaped for decades by a style that didn’t reflect how women think, communicate or operate. So like many women, I tried to fit in. Toughen up. Be louder. Hold back questions. Perform certainty. None of it felt aligned. None of it made me better.

The turning point wasn’t technical.
It was human.

As I moved through roles in state and local government — Stadiums Queensland, Griffith University, Western Downs Regional Council — I was delivering complex portfolios, navigating governance, managing risk and leading multi-disciplinary teams. But the real lesson was this:

Leadership is never just about process.
It’s about people.
And the energy required to keep them aligned, focused and inspired.

The Realisation That Changed Everything

Across industries — construction, agriculture, professional services, education — I saw the same pattern in the most capable women:

I created EverBold to fill a gap I wished I’d had earlier.
